Is a Petition of Citizenship considered to be the same document at Petition for Naturalization? Or should it be classified as Other Naturalization document?

There are several examples of the Petition for Naturalization in the Project Instructions. Not sure what the Petition of Citizenship looks like, but they do list it as a separate document in the Project Instructions:

• Index all naturalization records, including declaration of intentions, petitions for naturalization, military petitions, oaths of allegiance, naturalization certificates, final orders, alien registrations, repatriation records, certificates of admission, name change records, certificate of arrival, certificate of loyalty, petition for citizenship, and naturalization cards. In addition, index applications for the above documents or other documents that are similar to these form-types.

Post the batch ID number (i.e., the mixed 7-digit alpha-numeric number in brackets). Select from menu: Batch < About Batch. Another volunteer may have seen this form and be able to help you.

I just looked at the Michigan Naturalization project and I am curious about why ONLY the document type is being indexed. I have some guesses but would like to know the real why!

I would list it as "Other" because it is not the same process. Usually they have at least one U.S. citizen as a parent or a guardian.
