Make the timeline able to link to photos, audio, video, text boxes

I'm trying to preserve for my posterity a timeline of the various experiences where I've felt the Lord's hand in my life. I don't think my grandkids will pick up my life history (how many of us have read books produced by our ancestors?!), but they might click on links! Maybe I can make an attractive heading that perks their curiousity and they link to a pic with narration....

Maybe we could exploit the map's space...maybe we could offer a display toggle switch --instead of just turning the map off and on, the user could choose to display linked items. In the attached photo, I have inserted a description of my mother on my timeline, which is barely visible in the black box--not very inviting. So far I can only see how to add some text.

Maybe this idea is already in the works?

I could do this on my own--creating a document with links, but I worry that software is constantly changing and may not survive a decade or two. So, I think Family Search is my answer, as it will always update!
