Indexing "all information"
I have indexed many of these records - Declaration of Intention - a few of these records have two , sometimes Seven names of children with ages listed.
My question is why (?) do we not have spaces to record these children ?
Will there names be recorded when a reviewer sees them - or are they just left off the record ?

Indexing 'Declarations of Intention'
when I index the Principal name along with other information ei: Spouse, when and where document originated, and often (not always - names of 1-7 children ) It causes me to think that these names are important to the record of the parent ??? - Anyway I was and will wonder why until an explanation is given.

We don't index the children or create a separate entry for the spouse on Naturalization projects. The documents are for the principal (petitioner or declarant) so that is why an index is only created for that person. A researcher will see the image and the listed children on the documents.

First, it is important that you read the Project Instructions for each indexing project you index and/or review. This will hopefully give you many of the answers for the questions that appear here on community help.
From What to Remember about This Project.
- Do not create separate entries for people other than the principal. For example, do not create separate entries for the spouse or children of the principal person.
Why, because they are not the ones applying for naturalization on the form. If they were, they would do so on their own separate form.
An indexed document is not meant to provide all the information. It is a lead for a genealogical researcher to find the actual document to look for further information about a member(s) of a family tree.

As we say nearly every day, an index is not a transcription but a finding aid.
