How do you merge two ID numbers for the same person?

My husband and I each have two ID numbers. It seems that we are recognized as spouses in some searches but not others. He has other information in his tree about our children that does not show up in my account.

Any suggestions?

The reason there are two numbers is because you each have a number in each other's account as living people. This is done for privacy reasons. You will have to put in the information he has about the children in your account. You will notice that the children in his account will have a different number than in your account. When people die, they all get merged into one number. Until then, there are as many numbers as there are people that have them in FamilySearch.

Here is a link to a Knowledge Article in FamilySearch that may explain about this policy a little more thoroughly. https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/living-and-confidential-people-in-family-tree.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

And since only you can view the living people you enter, you don't need to put detailed information about your children.
