I don't understand why I don't receive notifications that I have messages/replies from the FS home screen. I do get an email but then have to log in again when I am already logged into FS. It seems like they should be linked since I sign in with the same account. It should be easier. There isn't even a link to the community pages from the FS home page.

On every FamilySearch page, there is a Help button (? inside a circle). Click on that, and one of the options is a link to the Community.

It isn't visible from the top of the home page and does not show notifications there. In order to retrieve messages like this one, I have to log in separately. It isn't handy whatsoever.

Not everything can be visible. The pages would be so cluttered that it would be impossible to use the site.

But when I get an email and click on the link it does not take me to the place where the comments exist. I have to hunt all over for it. This is a poorly designed layout.

Can't help you there. I have email notifications turned "off" because I don't need them.

CopperhairEmeraldeyes I received an email notification about this post, I clicked it and came right here. Have you checked your notification settings to make sure they are checked?

Yes, Community does operate separately from the main account. That's probably connected to the fact that it wasn't designed by FamilySearch and its functions appear to be limited by the design of the original "Vanilla" product.

Nevertheless, I don't find it too much bother to have to "Sign in" again once here. Perhaps the FamilySearch Home page should have a clearer hyperlink to Community, but there are several other "hidden" items / links, accessible via the icons on the top-right of the page. As you've found, the link to get here is found by clicking on the "? in a circle" symbol.

As far as emails are concerned, I find they do contain a direct link (in green) that takes me directly to the post concerned. Perhaps, as suggested, revisit your Settings to see what items are checked under Notifications.

The Help options are easily found by clicking on the "?" icon:

Check your settings on the page beginning https://community.familysearch.org/en/profile/preferences/ (adding your username at the end):

I cannot seem to delete or close this discussion. I will no longer be monitoring these messages or replying to comments on here.
