You can bring them over one by one and that is the best way to avoid duplicates. Do they have an Church membership attached Ancestry account? If yes then there is a tree icon on the top of a person's page on Ancestry next to the Search/tools/edit. You can use that tree to connect to Familysearch and compare people in both programs. You can add a spouse/child/parent to the person if they are not in one of the 2 programs but it is still a one by one approach. With the compare it does save the typing and makes it easy to share the sources between programs as well. Look into it and there are some videos that can help you learn how to use it.

I think many of us are happy it is not a simple solution.
Ancestry for so many seems to be the source of tons of incorrect and false information.
It is so easy for someone in Ancestry just to click on a leaf hint - and make a connection without even doing any simple validation of whether the information is actually correct or backed up by sources. way to many people just mindlessly copying family trees with no thought for analysis.
Keep in mind Ancestry is a site where everyone has their OWN database -whereas FamilySearch Family Tree - is one single massive collaborative database - anything you add into FamilySearch can and will affect what other people have loaded into the database.
No matter what you do to get information into FamilySearch - PLEASE ensure that it is backed up by things like census records, probate records, bible records etc,
and that your "source" is more than something like "This came from Ancestry.com"
Now of course - not everything in FamilySearch is 100% correct either - we all understand that - but when everyone is working together on a single database - it is even more critical to ensure information can be backed up by primary sources - before just adding it.
Also note FamilySearch is a SINGLE massive billion record database - chances are very good that the people you would want to import from ancestry are already in FamilySeach - and maybe need just some minor updates. There is no simple way for thee computer to really know - without a human being doing the comparison - as to which minor changes need updating - thus you are better off doing it record by record manually rather than having a massive load - make a mess of FamilySearch.

Just a though ...
.
Do not bring them over from "Ancestry_com" ...
.
Enter (ie. 'Create) the individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" one at a time - on a one by one basis.
.
Many of the individuals/persons most probably ALREADY exist in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch".
.
Use the "Find" facility/function/feature to Search "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch", you may be surprised to find some (if not, many) of them already there.
.
Many well established and documented (eg. "Sourced") individuals/person in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" have been RUINED by the upload of the (undocumented and unsourced) "Pedigrees" from "Ancestry_com" and the like.
.
Again, just a thought.

Please note that with an Church of Jesus Christ-Ancestry account (FamilySearch calls it Ancestry for Latter-day Saints) you MUST be an Editor or Owner of a tree in order to see the sync button on an individual's profile page:
If you are a Contributer or a Guest, you will not see the sync button and will not be able to sync that tree with FamilySearch Family Tree.

Here is the link to a Knowledge Article entitled "How do I connect a name on my tree on Ancestry.com to a person in Family Tree?"
Hope this helps you
