Family Tree Suggestion
Greetings: I would like to propose a suggestion when creating a Family Tree. I am adopted and in search of birth parents and/or siblings. I know my birth mother's name, however, I don't know if she is deceased or living. When creating my Family Tree and adding my birth mother's name and date of birth, there is an area to check on whether she is deceased or living. I have no idea if she is still living or not but if I don't check one of those boxes, she won't be added to my Family Tree. I just checked "living" in order to have her added.
I suggest that having to check one of those boxes in order to have her identified as my mother in my Family Tree be eliminated. Thank you

Can't be done: profiles for living people are treated completely differently from profiles for deceased people.
Profiles for living people are private: only the account that entered them can see them. If another user creates a profile for that same person, it will have a different ID, and edits to the one copy will have no effect on the other copy.
Profiles for deceased people are public and shared: the intent is to have one and only one profile per person. Anyone can edit that single profile, collaboratively.

The general rule is that for any individual, born in the last 110 years, for whom you are unable to establish a death record, you should mark them as "Living" - as indeed you have in this instance.
