Membership Records of the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
Dear FamilySearch,
I would like it if instead of just having a page [ Landing | Church History Biographical Database (churchofjesuschrist.org) ]stating that there is a pioneer membership record from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for this person on this date in this ward, we could see the original source image or at least a note stating where the original image can be found (ie, a source citation helpful to genealogists). I have such a need and looked through multiple microfilms for the ward wherein an ordinance would be found. No such record existed for the person. I also looked in the special room that only endowed members can go into. I found no record of this pioneer person having any ordinance done in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City then.
I know that an option is to go to the Church History Library, so I plan to go there someday, but I think Pioneer member records should be more easily accessible. If someone could photograph and make digitally available, these records, it would be so helpful. I would even be happy if some of these digitized images could only be seen by endowed persons! [I do think baptism ordinances and the genealogical portions of other records for the early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints should be digitized (and maybe even indexed) images available for everyone to see].
Sincerely,
