1772 English Marriage Register with only surnames listed
On this page hundreds of pairs of surnames are listed only. For example:
Newman & Harris. 10th Jan'y
That's it. That's all there is. There are no columns to say which is the bride and which is the groom. This was from the parish of St Marylebone in 1772. Anybody know who is who in these listings?

I know what I would recommend, but you may want the opinion of one of the members who may be more experienced with this project.
My thoughts - it's obviously an index, and since it is from 1772, it is highly probable that the index is formatted Groom Surname - Bride Surname. In that time period, indexes were usually formatted in that way unless they were specifically marked as "Bride Index."

That is what I am doing too, with the groom's last name listed first, before the bride's last name.
