Propose Creating a New Searchable Indexed Database Using a Public Domain Source?

There's a massive 500 page hardbound book in my family that was put together back in 1885 showing the descendents of Nathanel Ely. It contains information and biographies on 1,000s of people going back to the early 1600s.

I recently stumbled across the same book scanned into PDF! I'd always wanted a scan of this information but it was beyond my abilities.

https://ia804504.us.archive.org/25/items/recordsofdescend00elyh/recordsofdescend00elyh.pdf

Looking this over - it appears to be in the public domain. Would it be a candidate to import into FamilySearch.org as an indexed database?

If so how would I go about proposing that to FamilySearch.org?

It's about 38 mb.

Thanks,

I am not connected with FamilySearch

The above book is in the Internet Archive, Archive.org. To read the book by the book reader, the URL is https://archive.org/details/recordsofdescend00elyh

Archive.org has a good Search function. Using the Search in https://archive.org/ , one of the options for Searching is " Search text contents", so it is possible to Search for names. A general Search should pick up records in this book (subject to the quality of of the OCR available)

My view is that there are probably higher priorities for indexing, namely records which are not currently searchable. However, you could try emailing the FamilySearch Library.
