How do I change or avoid the wrong person populating as my GGF?
Eva M Barker KWJ5-MDP is my G. Gma. Her husband was David Cleveland Thompson 1892-1954; buried in Senath, Dunklin, MO. I even have photos.
FamilySearch populates with Cantrel Thompson LZNB-P7Q with a mother named Laura, which is probably correct but not part of my family.
In the past, I dealt with it by avoiding the website entirely. What are other options? Thanks for any suggestions.

You can make that change yourself. You can also communicate with the person or persons who have added Cantrel as the husband of your great -grandmother, if you wish, by clicking on the username(s) to send a private message.
The FamilySearch Family Tree is fully open-edit, with many contributors. It's not that "FamilySearch populates" but that someone added Cantrel as the husband - possibly through a bad merge, in 2018.
If you are new to working in the FamilySearch Family Tree, you may want to spend some time reading the Help Articles about how to merge or unmerge.

The Family Search HELP is awesome. The wrong person was inserted into a family and many "sources" of information for the correct person were tied to the improper person. Thus, you DETACH the improper person but be sure to write down the ID number of the profile before you detach it.
Attach the correct person.
Return to the profile of the improper person and review all the sources attached to them to see if they should actually be attached to the correct person. If not, go to the next one until you have reviewed all of them. If the information should be moved to the correct person, you have some work to do to move it. Detach the source, but remember the ID of the Correct person and then reattach the source to the correct person.
