The name of the Surviving person is a hyperlink to the profile of the surviving profile, so there is no doubt. Just click on the name to view the surviving profile.

The reason for the suggestion is this: If two persons are merged with the exact name (John Doe). It doesn't make sense to for the statement to read, "John Doe 1234-ABC. This person was was deleted by merge. Surviving person is John Doe." It would be much better and would provide certinty and clarity if the statement read "Surviving person is John Doe 5678-XYZ."

The name is a link to the surviving profile. It is common sense to view the surviving profile, to be certain of the facts. Putting too much information in the "Deleted" box will tempt the lazy to just move on.

There is certainly room for the ID number and I can't think of any reason it should not be there. So I would agree with the idea to add it.
I also can't think of any way it would be particularly useful or meaningful unless I had a dozen deleted John Does open and wanted to be able to see if they were all merged into the same Jon Doe or not.
What type of certainly would seeing that number give?
