duplication of McCandless tree

the McCandless tree has been researched in the past with Robert Emmett McCandless and Antoinette Florence McCandess correctly shown as my grandfather and grandmother. I now find a recent tree being built incorrectly showing my grandfather and grandmother as Robert McCandless and Nettie Cassidy, respectively. How can this happen in the Family Search system?

In spite of the response you were given earlier, help is often requested here and many members of FamilySearch Community are only too willing to assist. However, if you intend continuing to use Family Tree it is best that you familiarise yourself with its workings. In particular that it is open to inputs (including errors!) from those to whom you might not even be closely related.

The important issue here is in reading about how you can detach incorrect relationships yourself - including the undoing of the relationship between you and Robert McCandless and Nettie Cassidy, which another user appears to have added in error.

That said, feel free to return with any problem you have with correcting / reinstating true relationships and help should be available. Another thing you could do is to use the link provided to send a direct message to the user who made these changes. They might well be a distant cousin, who had got things wrong on this occasion, but might have some further information on your wider family that could prove very useful to you.
