Can anyone go into an account and change the information regarding a family member
I was looking up to see if I have an account and tree on this site. I did find a site with my Mother's, Father's and sister's name but someone went into there information and changed the Spelling of my Sister's name and stated she was diseased. My sister is alive and living in Southern California. My question, how is it possible for someone to change names and the fact if they are alive or dead so easy. On April 26, 2023, Someone went into my family information and changed the spelling of my sister's name and changed the fact that she is alive and chose dead. Personally I don't find this funny. If it is that easy for someone to access and change information, then posting or using this site is not safe. I would appreciate it if you can change the information so it is correct and find out how this woman was able to access my sister's information
Thank you,

The FamilySearch Family Tree is fully open-edit and wiki-style.
If you entered your sister as living, no one else can even see that profile. The privacy of the living is completely protected. What you enter for the living is in your "private space."
It is possible that someone may have created another profile for your sister and mistakenly marked her as deceased. I understand that would be upsetting. You can mark that profile as living and submit it to FamilySearch moderation for correction. That correction is normally handled very quickly. You only have to include as a reason that you are her sister and you know she is living.

To start, no one can change your LIVING profiles but you. But they can create an another profile for anyone and then mark them as Deceased.
You have a couple of options to fix this issue if you are sure that Rivella and Rinella are the same people and that she is Living. You can message the person to explain their error and to please change the profile from Deceased to Living.
You can also request this change yourself. To do that simply go to the DECEASED profile and in the VITALS section click the PENCIL icon next to Death. There click the radio button LIVING and explain why you know this person is living then click the blue SAVE button. FamilySearch will then review your request and fix it. In my experience this will take a few days.
