How can one person be both father and brother
doing research on Sir Hugh Crowder's descendants. I came across two instances where a father is both the father and the brother. The 1st concerns Hugh Crowder II born 1595 in St. Olave, Southwark, Surrey, England as the father and brother of Henry Crowder born 1619 in Charles City, Charles County, Virginia, British Colonies. The other concerns John Herbert Crowder born 1670 in Charles City, Charles, Virginia, British Colonies and Abraham Crowder, Sr. born 1698 in Bath Parish, Prince, Virginia, British Colonies list John Herbert as both father and brother to Abraham. The big question here is how can this be? Looking forward to your answers. Thank you.

Hi, thanks for your question. I've had a look for the people mentioned in your question above and without having the person IDs I've been unable to find any one who is down as both a father and a brother. If you supply the ID's I will happily look again.
The situation you mention is often the result of an incorrect merge, and can often be rectified if you reverse the merge. You can find the instructions on how to do this here...
Thanks for your help with this great work.

All can give you is the ID# for Sir Hugh Crowder to start with L6J6-W93 who is the son of Sir John Crowder (KH3W-5DW) and is also listed as the son of Clement Crowder (GHJ7-3V7). This all started with Sir Hugh Crowder and gets mixed up from there. I just did another search for Henry Crowder and it showed that he is the son of Hugh Crowder, Jr. (LVJ9-TFZ) and Henry's ID is (LDYJ-Z6Z. I don't have ID Numbers for the others that I list in the first part.
