Subtracting as well as adding entries

Since batches are set up with a preset number of entries, it would be nice if I could subtract a certain number of entries as well as add them. What I currently do when there are too many entries is delete all blank entries knowing one will be left; then I add the necessary number back on. I think it would be more efficient to simply subtract the unnecessary entries.

It would also be nice in some cases to be able to subtract a range of entries. For example, sometimes I use the "copy through" feature; then realize I have too many unnecessary entry blanks, but due to the "copy through" feature, since they are no longer blank, I have to delete them one at a time.

Thank you.

I'm not sure what you mean: based on your second sentence, you know about the trashcan button?

When (not if) a project is set up with more entries than your batch contains, you index all of the entries that are there, then you click the trashcan button and select "delete all blank entries", and then you're done and can submit the batch. Alternately, if you're expecting to use the "fill down" feature, you can go through and begin an entry for each line on your image(s), then click the trashcan, then go back to the beginning and fill in the entries.

I'll double-check on that fill down feature. The problem I have had, is that sometimes I have copied text through all entries, then have not needed all the entries. You cannot delete all blank entries in that case because they are no longer blank. I know there are other ways to get around this problem, but I thought a subtract button couldn't hurt.

    Thank you.

If you're interested, an image of the tool bar and it's functions is at https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/comment/510115#Comment_510115

@Linda M. Bowman So there is a quick trick when you copy the text through all the entries and then need to delete the additional entries. On the first one that you don't need either use Ctrl B to blank the fields that were filled in or just delete the information and then use the copy the field forward tool again. Then you can delete using the trash can "all blank entries". It is much faster than one at a time.
