The last few batches I've checked out on the South African Dutch Reformed Church don't indicate what kind of records they are. Each batch seems to be a page in a register or index of some kind. Only a name, date and page number. Do I just keep returning them?

No batch number for reference, but presumably you are referring to these? https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/968412?availability=Family%20History%20Library They are baptism registers, the date mentioned is the date of birth. We were told to index them as there is a name, place and date. In PI there was an image of them in how to index a baptism 3 which has since disappeared midway through the project. Normally indexes with just a folio/page are not indexed but because these have a date they must be.
