Images Catalogue - South Africa
@N Tychonievich In the last month or so, someone at Familysearch has decided to start renaming all the various towns in the images catalogue for South Africa.
As usual it is turning into a complete mess - they are grabbing the first hit in the placename database that matches a string of letters, inevitably a farm name in a different province (I still fail to see why farm names are in the database to start with when indexing instructions say do not index farm names, and since it serves possibly just a family or two, is not useful to the community, which "suggest a placename" says it should be??) https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-request-a-new-place-in-the-database-of-standardized-places These farm names are what are also causing havoc with the placename standardisation of indexed published records
Here is the rubbish I have picked up so far, now shown as farms instead of towns and cities:

As an aside, a smiley face option on the feedback button in the catalogue is really a useless way to highlight or discuss a problem

@gary_noble Thank you for the information about inaccurate places in Images. That feedback button with the faces is the way to get these problems to the team that works on that part of the FamilySearch website. So, grit your teeth and click one of the faces. Then the form will show that allows you to explain the errors. You might even want to express your discontent with the emoticons while you are at it.

Even the faces are broken

I've found that the faces don't work at that level, but are working if you access one of the record sets in your screenshot. Taking the bottom one in your list 00774934:1

Yes it does work for 1 film. But to report just those films i have highlighted above means clicking a face 325 times, then copying, pasting and editing the text for each one to tell them what it should be since they have no idea on SA places and provinces. As with all things familysearch, it involves excessive clicking, field boxes and roundabout ways to get from A to B. No doubt after all that there will be no response from FS as usual and the problem will probably still be there in 6 months if not worse

Yes, it would be a lot of work. I'm not sure of the character limits in a report, once you've chosen the representative emoji, but perhaps you could include the text listing of that page to show that the issue is widespread. One report for as many sets of digital images as fit in the character limits.
