This is the first time I'm using Permalink from Archion.de It's a nice feature!
I believe this record 1700-says Michael is the son and Adam is the father-this is a birth record

    these translation requests would be better submitted to the German community group and not the General Questions group.

    It's from a German Ancestry Records website that I find the records on. Archion.De

    Many of the translators have accounts there and can look up the record just to help them clarify what I need translation of. Maybe they need to look at the original in the book instead of what I cut out of the book.

    but what exactly is it?? (permalink) what does it do? why is it called permalink?

    It's church records from Germany. I take a snapshot, however, because I sent the link they can click on the link and look at the record in its entirety.
