Can anyone offer any clarification on some of the detail in the Vital Records of Papua New Guinea?
I'm looking at a Birth Registration entry for 1981, of a birth which took place in 1977. AT the bottom of the entry, under "Notations" is the comment - "Re-registered under Part VIII" can anyone explain what this refers to please? I'm confused because, taken with a separate entry in an entirely different name (& sex) the entry appears to imply that the parents had 2 children born 5 months apart in the same year!
I'm unclear whether or not I'm meant to attach images or links to the records here, sorry.

The URL/link to the record would be very helpful and most definitely allowed, even encouraged. It's much easier to answer a question when we can see the record in question.
There's a reference to birth registration or re-registration under Part VIII in the Civil Registration Act 1963 http://www.paclii.org/pg/legis/consol_act/cra1963214/

The document that Áine linked says Part VIII of the law is "Registration of Adoptions".

Thank you Áine & Julia. So am I correct to interpret the first document as showing that Elsie, born in 1977, was adopted in 1981 by John & Susan? If so, since the second document shows a registration for their child, William, 5 months after Elsie was born, it would seem that Susan was not Elsie's child. Is there any way to discover whether or not John was her birth father, or who her birth parents were?
