Search on Family Search ID
Some search input popups have the option to search by Family Search ID.
I want to see this option on ALL search input popups.
For example: https://www.familysearch.org/search/ does not have the ability to search by ID.
I know the ID of the person I want to search for, but, I am forced to put in their name and then scroll through a list of people with the same name until I find the one I want.
This is slow and sometimes the search engine does not find the person I want.
This is especially important when the person has been merged and the ID that I have is out of date. In this case, when I search by ID, I will immediately be told the new ID for the person.
PLEASE add the 'Search by ID' option to all search input popups !!

The example you give has nothing to do with Family Tree. It is strictly for searching historical records. No historical record will ever have a Family Tree ID on it.
All searches that look at Family Tree do have the option to search by ID.

@Gordon Collett What he is saying is why can there not be a feature to use my recorded ancestor's information found on the person page to initiate a search, and the answer is you can. @JohnSoppet don't start in that search page, start on the person page, then click FamilySearch in the Search Records area. All your person info will self populate.
When you are searching within a specific collection, yes, you do have to type the information. THAT is where your suggestion might have some merit. Ancestry has that feature, but to be honest, most of the time I do NOT click it because it will add in ALL information and all people. I have found this inhibits search results that have transcription errors or (more often) deviations in names. If I have a wife's name as Elizabeth, which can be auto added to the search criteria, but she is referred to as Eliza in a census and Liza in her husband's will, that simply adds to the confusion of what comes back in the results when I am actually searching for her husband. This gets worse when all the children and the subject's parents are auto populated in the search criteria. Some times when I am ultra lazy and want to click rather than type, I will populate the information to the search criteria, and then x out spouses, parents and children, depending on what I am looking for.
Bottom line is that this is not as useful as you think.

Of course it doesn't. That would be like trying to search the phone book for birth certificates. Different species.

Guess we'll have to wait for @JohnSoppet to return and explain what he is really asking for.
What I read, and commented on, was:

None of the historical record collections could make use of the Find By ID tab because the historical record collections don't contain people, just records. All the Family Tree search routines such as Find, Add Spouse, Add Child, do contain the tab because Family Tree consists of people who have IDs.

@Gail Swihart Watson ,
Thank you for your replies. Now I understand the difference between Historical Records and the Family Tree and why Historical Records cannot find a person by ID.
I also see that I was using the wrong search method and if I commence searching from Family Tree then Search, I will get the Search by ID box.
Thank you.
