Where is the 1850 census for Centre county, Pennsylvania ??
Your search engine can't seem to find ANYBODY in Centre Co. even tho that is the ONLY county I put in for it to find. It keeps giving me Centre township in every other county. what gives ??? I can find it on Ancestry.com. Why doesn't Family Search have it???? Please Advise on how to find it. You really need to improve your search engine rather than prettying up your visuals.

First: oops, I tried to correct the surname in the index, and now all of the family's entries have been replaced with John's. I'll be posting an error report for that next.
Second: I guess you're talking about how the catalog doesn't have a category for the 1850 census under Centre county? This is often the case: some censuses show up if you look under the county, some don't. The state listings, however, are almost always full and correct, and that's where I went to find it.
Click on the "population schedules" line to go to the catalog detail page, then scroll down to find Centre County, and click the magnifying glass ("search") icon on that line to search just that one film (i.e. everything that's the 1850 census for Centre county).
Because of the ongoing autostandardization mess, I don't even bother to try using the placename fields in a search on FamilySearch. I use the catalog to find the film, or if there's a lot of films (image groups), I sometimes try the filters.

Try it this way: https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=100&q.filmNumber=4191086
(This takes advantage of the fact that the entire county is on one film, per the catalog: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/744496.)
It counts 23,434 results.
If you give the link to the search that you did, people here could better diagnose what went wrong for you.

Hoping you can figure out what went wrong - my steps= from detail pg of John StalkerMRFB-87G I searched on FamilySearch SEARCH several times, also on the that" Records" tab that goes to a map & can be filtered down to "U.S. census 1850 PA" where even just with place (Centre Co., Penn.)= got Centre TOWNSHIP in various PA counties,, went to CaTaLoG for PA, Centre County == showed no 1850 census in catalog only 1870 & 1900. I could Not believe FAm.Srch. had failed to index a whole county from 1850, so I sent in my request to learn where it might be. Appreciate any suggestions. Your search engine really needs something to eliminate all the totally unrelated results out of the 246 claimed.

Hello, again - correction.. in catalog under PA, Centre Co., census it shows the 1790 & the 1800 & the 1860 & the 1890, not 1870 & 1900 as my memory tried but failed to remember.... just now I went to your https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=100&q.filmNumber=4191086 suggested link & was able to look thru Centre Co., PA, & found my guy John Stalker listed under "Slattery". So how would I have found that county in PA some way other than using just the name "Pennsylvania, Centre" or "Centre, Pennsylvania" as the standardized place for location in the search parameters ? I feel like there is some unknown thing I should have done or should Not have done that made the search program unable to find Center Co., PA.

Thanks for the suggestion on how to find a specific census inthe catalog ! FYI - I was the one who edited the "Slattery" in the 1850 PA Centre census to "Stalker" for John & all his children. I could see how an indexer would get "Slattery" from what was written, & only if you knew what it was Supposed to be could the correct letters be discerned. Finding that alot.
