Specifically: I don't know - no specific example was given to attempt to recreate the issue. And even if an example were given - differences in internet access (your location/provider - system/browser) may prevent recreating the issue.
Generally: When accessing a page FamilySearch's server needs to gather all of the resources attached - or possibly even near relations attached in the Tree - for display. Surprisingly (or not) FamilySearch has to access a fairly large amount of resources/systems for the display of a simple profile. That it might take longer or that a refresh may be needed for it to display properly - probably means FamilySearch servers and possibly profiles/resources are going through background changes affecting the method in which they are accessed. It could also relate to your version of system/browser combination - if your browser is not the latest you may want to try updating that. Different browser versions may have varying success at interpreting/displaying FamilySearch resources - FamilySearch help articles mention that it only supports the 'latest versions'.
Additionally: There was a recent Community Announcement explaining issues with a particular ISP (internet provider). I have no idea whether this reflects a significant change in the way FamilySearch routes website traffic or whether the ISP did. All I know is that there was an announcement of this issue. It possibly indicates changes being taken on FamilySearch's structure.
If a refresh works - I would suggest refreshing if you see that the profile is taking longer than normal.

And just for drill, clear your FamilySearch cookies and your cache, so FS is not wading through any leftover bytes and bits.

How do you clear FamilySearch cookies and cache ?

@fricibacsi (teehee, love the username), it depends on what browser you're using.
FS does offer a cookie-clearing service (https://www.familysearch.org/cookies), but that will not affect your cache (the saved pages or parts of pages that your browser "helpfully" serves up, in the name of increasing speed or reducing bandwidth use).
FS's Help Center article on the topic of cache and cookies just says to search the web for instructions relevant to your specific browser.
