translation of kana characters into english

as of right now, I am experiencing problem with your system translating kana characters in to english.

since I am reporting a problem, there is also another problem:

under SEARCH> FAMILY TREE> while searching for FIRST or LAST NAME and entering "JAPAN" under PLACE - the search returns with something like "unable to process" request. I renew page to have system cycle thru again and sometimes it takes several renews before the request shows results.

These problems inhibit my ability to contribute to this website - please fix problems
