At least some names in the batch have been indexed incorrectly. They are showing as Wilton by Burbage, Wiltshire, England, United Kingdom, but it should be as above.

Thank you

Can you please add some examples?

This sounds very much like an ongoing issue with the background process of assigning the indexed place to a standard place-name - someone has heroically volunteered to capture examples to try and improve the process but they need examples to provide a precise diagnosis.

Background - I am hazy on this but I think that the indexing will have been done correctly and "Wilton" (just that) will be the correctly indexed place-name. The idea is then that a background process comes along and links it to a full standard place-name. Unfortunately this process has issues and it's chosen the wrong Wilton...

I could be wrong on aspects of this, which is why you need to provide examples - URLs to the sources, please.

Since the images for the 1871 England and Wales census are no longer on FamilySearch, I'm not sure that index can be corrected. When FS only has an index, the index cannot be corrected. Only those record sets with images resident on FS can be edited. This appears to be an example: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KZGC-D6J

@Adrian Bruce1 My apologies for not seeing this post sooner. We can find enough evidence using the catalog entry for the source film to confirm the place standardization error for Wilton, Yorkshire. Thank you for reporting the problem. We have sent the information to the team that is working to improve auto-standardization.

Since the collection is not editable, you might want to note the error in place if you use the record you found as a source in Family Tree--helps prevent confusion a little bit.
