I am reviewing birth records from 1877 Sligo County Ireland. There are a couple of marriage records added decades later. Because of the instructions copied below I am leaving them off since births of that year are the "primary record." Do you agree?

Instructions say:

If baptism dates for the bride and groom were recorded on the marriage record, index only the marriage record since it is the primary record.

Also, are we supposed to add punctuation when it's there, like a period after an initial?

It was standard in Roman Catholic baptismal registers to add the marriage later. The rule officially changed at Easter 1908, meaning for any baptism after that date. Some helpful priests added the information on earlier baptisms, when the marriage was after 1908.
