What is the difference between "Memories" and "Stories"?
HELLO! I notice I get emails from y'all that will say "you have a new story". That is an interesting function, but, again (my question) what is the difference between "Memories" and "Stories"? If I add a "memory" does it show up as a "Story"? Will other relatives on FamilySearch get an email to notify them of the add? Slightly confusing ... JOHN CULCLASURE

Hi John - Welcome to FamilySearch Community and asking your question about memories. Memories is a broad term to include photos, documents, stories and audio files. Photos, documents, and audio files are loaded as files to Family Search. Stories on the other hand are created within Family Search. But in the end, stories, photos, documents, and audio files are all a type of memories. Below are a couple of link with more detailed information. Hope this helps.

This is SORT OF helpful ... BUT? ... when I get an email that says there's a "new story" I wonder why they just say a new MEMORY has been added(?) Nevertheless, I will check out the links!
Thanks for the help! JC

"stories" usually implies a text based memory that someone has typed in or copied and pasted.
versus image files and documents(pdf) that are not classified as "stories"
but when you get email notifications - - the wording and text - is often not consistent and proper
I would not at all be surprised if a notification went out - that referenced a "story" that may not have been a text based memory.
