Do not baptize by proxy list.
There needs to be a place or list that people can add their names to to prohibit the mormon church and any members from baptizing them by proxy. It is very offensive of the mormon church to do this. It shows a complete lack of respect for others.

Although I am not a member of the LDS Church, this is not an issue that worries me. If you find it so troubling, maybe you should refrain from using a website which is run by FamilySearch, an organisation which operates (quite openly) under the auspices of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Like Paul, I'm not LDS, but what they do or believe doesn't bother me (as long as they keep most of the discussion in the Temple category, so I don't need to read about it). I don't share those beliefs, so I wouldn't care even if they did their rituals for my closest relatives. I would just hope not to find out about it, because I find discussions of faith to be potentially embarrassing, and I wouldn't want to be perceived as ridiculing people for their religion.
I'm thankful that the church exists and has these beliefs, because they've made a very large amount of genealogical material available for free because of those beliefs.
