What do you do when you're not sure which date to include on a land tract book?

I'm reviewing a difficult record with several dates, and the instructions say to include the most recent date, but there's a "date of sale" section and a "date of patent" section. I don't know which one is relevant to the record.

Part E says: If multiple dates were given for the same transaction, index the "Date of Sale."
