Many posters claim that when an individual has "unknown" placed beside their first name, that no information was recorded for that person; allowing them to claim the individual to be of European ancestry, which is false.

It is common knowledge that the Jesuits and churches recorded "unbaptized" individuals in this manner until baptism. Thus Indigenous peoples would be recorded as "unknown" until baptised.

Non-Baptized individuals were prohibited from getting married in a church. A forect wedding, or on the steps outside of church indicated non-Baptized as well.

It is important to teach un-educated posters of the historical cultural practices to avoid arguments between posters; or having excessive improper misleading discussions.Perhaps a section on cultural history / practices could be provided by the website. Genealogists see these records & practices regularly. That is how they are able to make decisions, when the information is not clear to everyone else.
