St Petersburg Deaths: Does someone know the meaning of how they written the age of the deceased?
On the Death page below the deceased ages are written as 1/15 or 1/3 or 6 1/182 with the column heading in handwriting: Jahre (years). Does someone know the meaning of this? For indexing, would the age be '0' for the fraction only entries and '6' for the '6 1/182' above?
Is this the place to ask or should I ask on the German community?
Thanks, Elaine

I don't know for sure - I think I had the same question a while back but don't recall the answer. But yes I believe they are fractions of a year - 1/15 less than a month, 1/3 would be quarter of a year, 1/182 about half a year. I surely don't know what the following male/female column number means ( I don't know if some are age in years to add to fractional years). Some columns seem to put all the year in the Jahre column). I would definitely like to see an expert in these records reply. Interesting information: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Russia_Church_Records#Lutheran_.28Evangelical.29_Church_Records
From the Age Field help:
"Type the age in years. If fractions of years were recorded, round down to the nearest full year.
If less than 1 year was recorded or a child was stillborn, type the age as 0 (zero).
Do not calculate the age from other information on the document.
If the age was not recorded or was written as a variation of the word "unknown," press Ctrl+B to mark this field blank."
By the way, the same image from Images - the previous image implies that your image is from year 1853.

Those columns following the age are Male Deaths and Female Deaths, that is, a running total of each for the year. Notice the last two numbers, 12 under males and 11 under females add up to 23, the total for the year so far as given in the first column.
