Sources that are removed

I recently had multiple sources removed from someone in my tree. There was no reason given and the person will not respond to messages. In the 'Details' history, I found some of the things that had originally been put in and managed to replace these. There were other 'Sources' that were detached or deleted that I can't access. Under 'Sources' there is no history of sources being added or changed. Family Search needs to make a history for sources like there is for details. Added sources do not always show up in details, so if a source is removed it is lost forever.

@Dale A. Wood From the person page/Details - the Latest Changes card (right-hand column):

Clicking SHOW ALL should display all the changes - including Sources that were Removed.

If you would like to provide the ID of the specific person - someone here in Community may be able to give further help.

The Change Log is comprehensive, covering sources as well as details, collaboration notes, and memories.

As genthusiast wrote, you get to it from the Details page by going to Latest Changes and clicking Show All. You can then click the Filter button at the top right and choose Sources to show only source attachments and detachments.

My sources were deleted and not found in changes or sources. Weeks of work just tossed aside/ The person who did the deleting will not respond to any messages. Very upsetting to have one just delete your research.

@Cathy T, if you know who deleted them, then the deletions must be in the change log, and you should be able to restore them. The trick is that the change log works backwards from how most people expect: there are no undo buttons in it. You have to go back to where the source was originally added and redo it, using the Restore link.

I haven't checked, and don't want to try it out in case I have problems, but I wonder how easy it is to restore sources that are not FamilySearch ones?

I just tested it with an "outside" source (a National Széchényi Library funeral notice), and restoring it was a matter of two clicks.

Thanks you confirming that, Julia. I usually like to use "Review Attachments" and directly move the source to the correct ID, if it has been misplaced. However, I noticed that this feature is not available for outside sources, so wondered if there were other restrictions (like not being able to restore them), too.

"Review Attachments" invokes Source Linker, so it's strictly for indexed sources. (That is, it's not available on unindexed sources whether they were found on FS or elsewhere.)
