Dates on Part D Tract Books
Every time I review this project I wonder about the correct dates to use:
Date of sale?
Most recent?
Cancelled date if it is most recent?
Revoked?
Patented?
This is the link for the one I am working on now: https://www.familysearch.org/indexing/batch/af80f752-6601-47eb-8bca-8dd9568deaab
Batch code: M3VC-X1N

Hi, I have been following the project and field instructions which say:
- If multiple dates were recorded for a single transaction, index the most recent date. Dates may be found in "Date of Entry," "Date of Sale," or "Date of Patent" columns.
and:
If multiple dates were given for the same transaction, index the most recent date.
I realize there is a contradiction of this in example #1 but I have been viewing that as a mistake on the part of the person setting up the examples and have been using the most recent date. This question has been put forth several times and as far as I know there has not been any feedback from a moderator or from Family Search.
Hope this is of some help🙂

In most of the images I get the scribe did not respect the column headings so there are all kinds of entries across the page. Most often the Cancelled date is the most recent.
I am still thinking about this batch and deciding what to do with it. I have made corrections to names as needed. I have added the place (often found on right hand side of spreadsheet) if there is one. I will correct the dates when I feel I have enough information about the correct way to do it.
I have several indexers who are working on these tract books and asking me how to index them. I try to give correct information to them.

I don't seem to be getting any replies to my questions about the Tract Book projects. There seems to be confusion about dates, place, and which names to include in the entries. If anyone has updated information, please share with me!

Some of the confusion on this project comes from the fact that the instructions on which date to use has changed each time a new section has been put up. We are up to part E so the instructions have changed 5 times. When I asked about this previously I was instructed to use the instructions that were current on the section that I was working on.
