Button for New Discussion on Community Page
Could you add a "New Discussion" button to the "My Discussion" tab or make it an item on the main list?
I really struggled to work out how to make a comment. I was certain it was easier the last time I made a comment.
I managed to find out how after having to talk myself into look in the "My Draft" section, as I was convinced would be a strange place to put it as I was looking for a new discussion not a draft.

Every category in the Community has a big blue button for starting a new thread. (Granted, on narrow screens it can be well-hidden behind random blue plus signs or other mystery meat.)
Collective pages like "Community Home" and "Groups" don't have a "new thread" button, because you first have to choose a category or group for your post. This is also why a link in "Quick Links" cannot work: where would the resulting post go? A randomly-chosen category somewhere?

Thank you for your comment. Sorry I might have confused you. I was not looking to create a new thread, I was looking to start a new discussion, i.e., I wanted to comment on the difficulty in finding a new discussion tab. I used the words comment and discussion interchangeably. I hope this gives some clarity.
Just in case I haven't, let me try again. Please can FamilySearch make it easier to find the button to start a new discussion?
This is the button I was suggesting got move or add to the discussion tab

Discussion = Thread = Question
Comment = Reply = Response = Answer
Comment ≠ Discussion
"Post" can mean either "discussion" or "comment", so it's not really a useful word here.
As I tried to explain, the reason there's no "New Whatever" button anywhere in the Quick Links section is that there is no clear place for such a button to put stuff. You have to choose a category or a group for your new thread/discussion/question.

Thank you for your further comment, however your information is not accurate. There is most definitely a "New Posts" button under "My Drafts" in the "Quick Links".
On this occasion instinctively I went directly from the "Welcome to the Community" home page onto the "Quick Links" and then select "My Discussions" but found there is no "New Posts button here. Eventually I discovered that if you select "My Drafts" from the same "Quick Links! you find a "New Posts" button appears.
I have made my suggestion as normally I find FamilySearch is instinctively easy to use, but not on this occasion. Hence the reason for suggesting to add the button "New Posts" button to the "My Discussions" or simply add it to the Quick links.
Here a screen capture of the point I am making.

Pictures are always so useful to clarify problems. So are step by step instructions. On a board like this such things are really necessary because we can't read each others mind when someone says "it's right there."
In my opinion there is basically there is a flaw in the program in that the blue New Post button under drafts should not be there at all and the programmers should remove it. If you try to use it, the first thing you need to do is pick a category of where the post is going to go. The choices vary depending on whether you pick Discussion, Poll, Idea, or Question. And the choices really don't make it clear where your post is going unless you are already familiar with all the categories.
Since each category has its own new post button, it really seems to make more sense to:
- Click on main category (Help, Idea, or Group)
- Pick the subcategory if present.
- Click the blue button.
Rather than:
- Click My Drafts
- Click New Post
- Choose a type from the drop down menu
- Click Select A Category
- Choose a category from the drop down menu or go back a step and choose a different type if you picked the wrong one and the category you wanted is not listed.
