FamilySearch Support,

Thank you for your support and writing back promptly.

I have decided to make some recommendations to improve this site for all researchers. (Word Document attached).

This is a working document: I am open for changes and are prepared to assist, to get to the best possible layout and logic access to records/ files and information for SOUTH AFRICA.

There are various books published on research of various families. (Like Du Plooy, Du Plessis, etc). Perhaps this could be a HEADING on the MAIN MENU.

Hoping that this could spark a review of the layout and construction of this WONDERFUL historic information site.

Thanking you

Regards

Corrie

Dear Corrie,

You are doing fantastic work in your 70's and we need your help so please keep up the great work! We are happy to help assist you in this great work however we can.

You bring up a great suggestion for FamilySearch and we invite you to share your feedback. These suggestions are read and considered. You will find a Feedback button on most pages in FamilySearch. One of the easiest ways is to go to the main page of FamilySearch. You should see a small Feedback button on the left side of the screen. You can also find a Feedback link at the bottom of every page. It will be at the very, very bottom of the page.

Please reach back out if you need more assistance. We invite you to find answers to many questions in the Help Center and Community. If you prefer to speak with someone, we invite you to call our phone support or schedule an appointment.

Sincerely,

FamilySearch Support

FamilySearch Support,

First of all: THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!

This is fantastic that you came back to me on my questions also for the wonderful way addressing my problems.

This will take me some time to work through and understand this layout and information.

               JUST I THOUGHT

I am 76 years young but able to work on various apps and systems and are trying to have a good understanding of the apps and systems I am working on. It just beats me how in IT we have wonderful ways of storing data. (Files/ sub file/ indexes, etc). This I see in SEARCH HISTORICAL RECORDS. If I now want to know all the record of South Africa it will be listed.

The problem is why now start some other filing for the other record? Why make it difficult to view some record? Should these record not be as an option under Historical Records of South Africa?

For IT staff working with the record every day they are thinking this is a logical layout. There are various HOW TO USE THESE FILES. This is an indication that access to these files are not very easy for the users and you had the explain.

It would be wonderful if after so many years of capturing data for different Countries, the layout and accessibility of files could be reviewed. The layout should be as user would view the files.

Thank you for your work.

Regards

Corrie

Hi Corrie. Thank you for offering your suggestions. This appears to concerning the page https://www.familysearch.org/search/location/africa/south-africa. There is a feedback tab on that page but it is not clickable for me. If I have misunderstood, please give me a link to the Main Menu you are referencing. We would love to get this to the appropriate team.

Maile, This (above) is how the file displays. I am having a problem to change it to a LINK.

If I BROWS ALL COLLECTION (from familysearch.org/search/) and enter SOUTH AFRICA from https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list?count=20 I get to the MAIN MENU for SOUTH AFRICA. Hope this will assist.
