Spanish army records from the 18th century

My 7th great-grandfather, Colonel Pablo Pérez Justiniani, was in the Spanish army in Cuba from 1753 to 1799. His name appears in the List of Patriots of the Sons (and Daughters too) of the American Revolution. I am told that the LDS Genealogical Library has his records (Legajo 7264: X : 1. I looked in familysearch, and visited my local LDS genealogical center, but I can not find any way to access those records, or know under what classification or collection his record might be. Can anybody help? Thank you!

I checked the DAR Website for the last name Justiniani no results. You can check yourself. Click on the link. GAR, Ancestor, fill in search information.

So, looking further...where was this ancestor born? Was his army unit formed in Cuba, and served there? Or was he from Spain or Florida? This might help to find the records.

Here is a link to some Cuba record info scroll down to Cuba on the page.

    Happy Hunting :)

He is on the DAR List of "Patriot Ancestors from Cuba" and he is also on the SARs. He is on page 29 under the surnames starting with P. Justiniani was his mother´s surname and the Spanish, very correctly, wrote his name under P, since Pérez was his father´s surname. I even have a copy of this page 29 with his name. Don´t worry, this is a common mistake that people from other countries make when dealing with Spanish surnames. The website from SAR says that the LDS church has his military records and they said the number is Legajo 7264: X: 1. I don´t know whether this number refers to an LDS catalog, or it is simply the Legajo (bundle of papers) number that the Spanish Army assigned to it. I just want to know whether you have these records, as DAR and SAR claim, or if these records are located in some other place. Since DAR and SAR work on a daily basis with these military matters from the 18th century, I assume (whether correctly or incorrectly) that there is a good chance that they are right and you guys do have those records. I just need a copy of those records, that is all. I hope you can help me, or if you can´t, you might direct me to the right person. I truly appreciate your help in this matter. Sincerely,

    Myra L. Hardwick

After I answered you, it occurred to me that the "List of Patriot Ancestors from Cuba" that I found was on the SAR website. The lady I contacted from DAR sent me the exact same list compiled by GW Hough, a SAR member from California, so apparently, both organizations use the same list as far as Cuba is concerned.

Perhaps the FamilySearch Wiki page Spain Military Records may be helpful
