Don't worry. You won't be stuck with the new pages. Since Family Tree opened in 2012, there have been three or four major updates to the pages. That is a lifespan of about four years for each design. Each of which was greeted with weeping, wailing, and the gnashing of teeth. So in a few years the pages will change again. And once again, people will complain. There were just as many people with major complaints about the soon to be retired pages when they were released as there are now with the new ones.
However, the designers have been extremely responsive to user input with this version. One of the speakers at RootTech actually stated that one of the reasons for the new pages is that with the new background coding, they are able to take care of needed changes and updates much more efficiently and quickly. That same speaker also mentioned a feature that is coming very soon which is probably in response to user complaints that the new pages are too cluttered, that they are too spread out, that the font is too small, that the font is too large, that the pages have too much contrast for easy reading, and that the pages have too little contrast for easy reading.
In the presentation https://www.familysearch.org/rootstech/session/whats-new-at-familysearch-for-members-of-the-church-of-jesus-christ-of-latter-day-saints-2023?lang=eng starting at time 21:27, Todd Powell, a "senior product owner at FamilySearch.org; he is responsible for developing tree apps, improving new user experiences, and keeping the tree database running.... He has over 30 years of technology and management experience," goes over why the pages were updated and some of the updates including one that has not been released yet but is coming, he thought by the end of March. At about time 33:47 he mentions that under "My Layout Settings" will be a Contrast setting that will change the contrast and size of the page a bit. It will be interesting to see what this does.
In any event, if you have specific concerns or needs with the new pages, join the group at:https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/316-new-person-page and give clear, specific feedback.
