Hello,

Often times in the memories section I see people attach a document and its classified as a photo. It would be really nice if could edit this somehow and make it correct.

Thanks!

It is the file type. I take a photo of many certificates and upload them. Those are photos. I will take a collection of images of, for example, of Bible pages I've inherited, and print them off as a multi-page pdf file. That is a document because of the file type regardless of the fact that it only contains images.

I agree it would be good. There really is no reason I can think of to limiting this function to the person who uploaded the item. Just like I can't think of a reason why only the person who uploaded a photo can be the one to rotate it.

Here is the current Actions menu on photos I have uploaded:

Documents show "Change to Photo" but otherwise are the same.

Gordon Collett EIDT: I see I was wrong, you CAN change an image to a document and Vice versa. I stand corrected. I think this suggestion has merit.

I think you misunderstood the suggestion. I think the poster wants the ability to change an image of a document to a document classification so that the filters will include that image of a document with the documents instead of with the images. You can't make that edit even if you uploaded the file. It's a good idea though.

I will give an example. Someone attached a marriage record to to my relative. But its classified as a photo. But its clearly a document. This might be something family search can either change or not. Just wanted to throw it out there.

@Hazel Eyed Girl ,I agree that other people should be allowed to edit this. After reading @Gordon Collett 's post I went to my father's page and saw I could change his death cert from image to document. And I immediately did that. That was good. But I'm not sure I would want FamilySearch doing this. I think it could be a very subjective. Take my PDF files which are images of bible pages, with some added text explanations or transcriptions by myself. If someone thought those should be changed to an image, would that confuse anyone? Would they fail to see that there is a page 2, 3, etc?
