I downloaded the photo, cropped it to the top square, uploaded it, chose it from my gallery, and re-did the profile's portrait, and it seems to have worked. I have no idea what went wrong on your end.

On Helena Hedwig Schimke the portrait is still not working. I line it up and save it and it still shows 90 degrees out and the face is not in the portrait.

That's very strange. I tried deleting and re-doing Helena's portrait, and it went back to showing the sideways and off-center thing.

I went back to the old version of the person page and used its "edit portrait" function, and now it says "processing"

Doesn't seem to go beyond the "processing" stage. Is there something about the photo it doesn't like?

    Apologies for misunderstanding your question.

I tried redoing it as well. I too have it "processing" now!

    What is the file format?

The reason I ask is that I have recently experienced some strange issues with tif files.

There must be something about that photo file that it really, really doesn't like, because it's back to sideways and off-center again.

It's a jpg, which normally works perfectly fine on FS. Maybe the file's too big? You could try cropping it in your favorite image editor (I use paint.net) and uploading that.

Tried the cropped image. Now it's not even letting me upload the file! Not sure what's happening.
