Truncate automatic searching, hints, etc., for some tree members

I would like to be able to stop getting hints/searches for certain members of my tree. For example, first marriages for relatives that never produced children, etc. I want the person in my tree for the sake of family history but I don't want to add that person's entire family to my tree. A LOT of my hints are of this type that I don't want to see. The same with step relationships. Again as an example, you want the step parent and maybe even a previous spouse where step siblings are involved but you don't want the entire family history of the unrelated first spouse. Hope this makes sense!
