US, Ohio—Stillbirths (Births) Records, 1931–1953 [Part C]
I reviewed a few batches this evening to see how indexers are doing with these beginner batches: Please read and follow project instructions and samples. Mistakes in every batch are 1) Place of Stillbirth - must index city/town, county, state, like this: Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio. 2) Child's Given Name ---- Baby Girl or Infant are not names and should be marked <blank> 3) Color or Race --- The letter "C" stands for "Colored" and should not be indexed as African American or any other race/ethnicity of color. These batches are easy and quick to finish. Thanks for your enthusiasm and for taking time to "do it right."😎

I ran into the same problem with the place and name this morning. Reading the PI is imperative. With the "C", I think it would be a good idea if there was an example that showed how to index this. Not every race in every record is "White".

I would also like to add do not add the father's surname to the mother's surname. These records are exactly like live birth records. They list the mother's maiden name and have a box for "Legitimate". Heck, even my almost 43-year-old birth certificate has my mother's maiden name.

The "newer" popup says if you are an experienced indexer not to work on them. I suppose they expect that there will be lots of errors during the learning curve.
This is a very small collection, since there are only 1890 batches to review at 62% complete.
