Famous relatives

thanks! good points.
I do like it that Princess Diana is my10th cousin - I know it's distant.
I do hope that the links are actually accurate however...would take a lot of work to find that out I guess..
Meanwhile, I know I have DAR ancestor from Rev War and a 6th cousin Governor in same family. DAR is strict and I feel their acceptance of my ancestor is very reliable. So maybe I do have dozens of other Presidential distant cousins. as Family Search says but..who knows?

Another way to find famous relatives is with the RelativeFinder.org website. You can also find out if you are related to your friends or or any one else.

Can anyone explain why people show up in my famous relatives and then disappear? It showed Abraham Lincoln on my famous relatives page and when I went back to print it, it was gone.

When someone makes a change in the tree it could change the links between people in the tree.

When I look at the relationships in Famous Relatives and Relatives Around Me, almost every one I've looked at is incorrect. At some point in the relationship they will show a parent that is not correct. I assume it uses a generic public tree and not my actual tree?

No Craig Smith, FamilySearch is only one tree. So everthing that shows on the famous relatives and relatives around me comes from your tree information. We suggest, that when you come upon a relative that doesn't belong to your family that you research that person and discover why they are there. Did someone not related to you attach the wrong person? Is the relationship the way you suppose it is or is there a different parent? When you come accross either one of these scenarios you can fix them and correct the information contained in the tree.

Because the FSFT is a single collaborative tree, any contributor can add/connect/change any profile of a deceased person. You'll want to check, step-by-step, how you are connected to the ancestors in question.

Thank you both. So I found that a large number of the issues are due to a single person who was attached to another set of parents, who had guardianship after the real parents died. I'll have to see if there's a more appropriate way to link them.
