    I apologize if my attempt at mindreading is way off-base, but it sounds like you're dealing with the difference between "living" and "deceased".

    Profiles that are marked "living" are private: they are only visible to the account that created them. Yes, this means that any living people you enter will have duplicates in the accounts of anyone else who has entered those same people. They will all have different IDs. This is by design, and not an error or problem. The sole purpose for such profiles is to connect you to your deceased relatives, whose profiles are public and should be merged with any duplicates. This allows all of your living relatives with FS accounts to connect to the same public profiles with the same IDs, and to collaborate on editing your deceased relatives in common.
