Annoying message
Why do i get this message”open web page this web page is not on the family search website and will open in your browser”

Because it is taking you to a Source not part of FamilySearch collections. It is a second/third-party reference to a Source (the site has partnered with FamilySearch to make their data searchable in FamilySearch's Search results and attachable as a Source). (In other words they want the web traffic routed to their webpages - rightfully so). It's just informing you of that fact and opening the site in another browser window.

I am getting this too. Not just on external web sites like one would expect, but it will pop up constantly just navigating in the app, and if you leave the app unattended for a few minutes, several of those pop ups come up on top of each other. Clicking “OK” does nothing. You have to click “cancel” on how ever many pop up. This started a day or so ago.

Hmm, can you attach a screenshot? Maybe something else is going on if you're not trying to access an external source.

It’ll do it just sitting in the opening screen. Or when I switch to another app and come back, and I have to click “cancel” 8 or 10 times to dismiss all the piled up warning messages.

@MichaelDitto1, is this still occurring? If so, is it still intermittent or happen on a specific page?

What OS, device and browser versions are you using? It almost looks like you might be using phone/tablet? I'm guessing this is a specific configuration issue for your device/browser. Basically you should try updating both your system and the browser (if there are updates available) - then see if that helps. If not I would probably recommend reverting the browser to default/original configuration. It would be good to get your system configuration details to see if anyone else with the issue has the same device/configuration.

Yes. I'm not sure "intermittent" is the right word, it happens regularly/constantly but is not associated with any specific page.
It is the very latest iPad Pro running the very latest OS updates and the browser is the FamilySearch app which is also the very latest. It's a closed system with automatic updates. Neither reverting nor alternate configurations are much in play here.

When you say FamilySearch app on iOS - that implies you are using the FamilySearch mobile iOS Family Tree for that page - is that correct? If I recall - the app does open some webpages if you are browsing on FamilySearch.org - the initial setting of which may have given an option to 'open familysearch links with the app' (paraphrasing). I would try looking for that setting (not sure on iOS) or revert that so that the app isn't constantly taking over FamilySearch web addresses (not sure if mobile Settings has a reset option for that or if it turns that into an alias or something on iOS).

So I think maybe the reason for that message - if you are in the Family Tree mobile app - is because of that initial setting/warning to have the app open familysearch.org links. But if the app doesn't contain the website/links - then yes it's going to direct you to open the FamilySearch link in the browser. On my Android it's fairly seamless and I do not get such an interrupting message. I don't have iPhone/iPad handy to test otherwise I'd try to find the setting to which I am referring. I guess I'll have to defer to someone else with more iOS device access. On Android the setting is in App Info:
I would think it would be a common issue for anyone with iOS - but if not all iOS users are having the problem there must a difference in settings.
I recalled that I believe the setting on iOS may be found under System Settings> FamilySearch Family Tree (possibly).

Sorry, there is no setting like that in iOS.

Hmm, maybe that's why you can't do anything about it. Well hopefully someone with iOS can reply if they find that setting. ... I suppose it should be under App Info, where ever that is in iOS.

I'd probably uninstall/reinstall Family Tree app - to see if that setting initial warning appears.

@MichaelDitto1 I have the Tree app on an iPad too and see the same message from time to time. I have not found any pattern to it. Sometimes it is there when I first open the app. Other times I can work along for quite some time before it appears. I checked all of the settings in the app, but nothing seems related. I haven't tried an uninstall-reinstall to see if that fixes it. Might be worth a try.
