@JoseJohnson2, I wonder if part of your difficulty is a misunderstanding of the underlying structure or philosophy: you do not have a separate, individual tree on FamilySearch. The Family Tree here is an open-edit collaborative endeavor, with the lofty (and distant) goal of one and only one profile per deceased person. This is why you cannot simply delete people, and why merging is purposely slowed. Errors can affect other people's relatives, not just yours.
I don't use the tree views much -- just the fan chart as a starting point, mostly -- but I believe both the landscape and portrait views allow you to switch between spouses? In any case, the Family Members section of each profile's Details page shows all of the spouses (and all of the parents) that have been entered for a person, and that's what I use most often. (It's essentially a two-generation descendancy chart.) Perhaps if you can give some more detail about what part of your desired workflow breaks on FamilySearch, people can either point out tools or features you've missed, or help you work up a specific suggestion for the engineers.
