Had to rotate a photo.

The option to rotate photos in the Memories Gallery appears to be missing. Will it be coming back soon?

I just checked in Chrome on Android and on Memories mobile app - both had rotate options (in Actions menu or 3 dot menu) - when opening or selecting one at a time.

Is this photo in memories?

I have this problem as well. It's so crazy. Yes, I can rotate it, but it won't stick. I have a clue as to where the snafoo might be. When I uploaded the image to memories, I had to rotate it. I uploaded it 4 years ago, and so I believe the new person page is somehow not connecting to the altered image. It is using the original image.
If any kind soul could fix my gx2 grandfather's portrait so it isn't so - hm - modern looking, I would love it.

Thank you for both comments. In response to starkeypd. It is in the gallery and in memories.
To experiment, I rotated it in the gallery and in their who's in this picture page. No success.

I have rotated the images in Memories and saved it. Then, when I go to the portrait next to the name and select the photo, it looks good, but when I save it, it turns counter-clockwise. I've tried this on Mac OS Safari and with FireFox. Nothing seems to work.

are you referring to a jpg image or a pdf ? not sure what you mean by "save it" (there is no save option in FamilySearch)
and what are you clicking on to "rotate it in the first place"
I almost get the impression you are rotating and saving (a copy of the image) on your local device and not within the FamilySeach application - which is why it doesnt "stick".
can you provide some link to the item? (or the link of the person it is hooked to - if they are deceased)
are you using a smart device(phone/ipad) or a computer - things can be slightly different for each.

@Dever Antoinette Castricone Are you still unable to rotate the picture in Memories?

So I can rotate a memory so that is shows ok in memories, but that does not carry over to the view if I then select that memory to be the profile image. See my poor 2nd ggrandfather, 9KDL-7M8. I know the solution here is to delete that memory and upload a new one, but I've kept him so I can test any solutions.

@Gail Swihart Watson Leave him for now and I will send him in as an example of the problem.

Gail, I just tried it again. The rotated image does not show as rotated in the profile image. It does in memories but not the profile image.

I selected a memory picture for the portrait of my Aunt. It kept displaying sideways. Then, I realized when I scanned and uploaded the landscape picture, it was sideways, and although I corrected it in Memories, it doesn't correct in portrait, so I had to choose another picture that hadn't been corrected.
Suggest Portrait have more choices besides replace. It needs some editing capability such as correcting sideways pictures, etc.
Or pictures that are corrected position in Memories need to carry over to Portrait.

Hi all. I have heard this is on the list of items to be fixed. I have no idea on the timing, but I will update you when I hear something.

Thank you Genthusiast,
I tried using the APP as instructed -- the rotation option shows up for some of the pictures, but not all of them; I get the same result on the website as well. Oh well.
Thank you again for the advice. :-)

Hey Vickie! I think what you are seeing has to do with who added the picture. If you added it, then you should be able to edit, including rotating. If you didn't add the picture, the option won't show up. If you are seeing this issue with pictures you've added, please let me know. Sam ☺️

@Sam Sulser You are partially wrong. If you look at my dear 2nd great grandpa Smith (9KDL-7M8), I have uploaded portrait images of him and his wife that I inherited. I uploaded these images way before the new person page was implemented. For whatever reason, at the time, I had to rotate his photo because it came out sideways. I rotated it and then made it his profile pic. No issue. Fast forward to the new person page. My photo of him is fine in memories, but NOT the profile pic. It still cannot be fixed other than deleting the image and uploading a new one that needs to be correct without any manipulation. I decided to leave the dear man as he is so I can check any fixes that may come.

I have been told that this has been resolved and is now working. To be clear: the issue is the rotate in the portrait selector on the person page. Please report if you still have issues with rotate.
