How to edit a reason I just wrote?

Family search had the wrong parents for my relative. I removed the wrong ones and for the Reason, I wrote where I got the correct info from and I also listed the correct parents and their numbers. After I moved on, I realized I had listed the wrong number by the Father. How can I go back and change that in the Reason? The correct parent is attached to my relative now, but if someone looks at the reason, I don't want to confuse them.

There are two kinds of reasons that are conflated on FamilySearch: change log reasons ("why I took this action") and conclusion reasoning ("why I came to this conclusion"). By their nature, the former cannot be changed, as that would undermine the integrity of the change log. Only conclusion reasoning can be edited, because it is persistent and visible outside the change log.

Detaching a relationship is a one-time action, so the reason box attached to it is a change log reason, and cannot be edited. It is also only visible in the change log itself, meaning that most people will never encounter it.

Instead of trying to correct the change log, I suggest repeating your reasoning -- with corrections -- as sources or collaboration notes on the profile(s).

You cannot edit anything in the Change Log. It is very strict about recording everything that happens exactly as it happens. If you feel that your statement is going to be confusing, you can add a note to the change log by creating a note, fact, or event then immediately deleting it.
