John & Marion (Gardiner) Poage; Bristow,Creek,Oklahoma

I tried unsuccessfully to change my father to 1905 (born July 17, 1905, Centerview, Johnson, Missouri). And also my mother born Marion Gardiner to 1911(born May 29, 1911). He is listed as 1906 & my Mother is listed as 1912!! I was unsuccessful. Also note that her maiden name was Gardiner!

My concern is with 1940 census: Bristow, Creek, Oklahoma for my parents John & Marion Poage whose birth years are incorrect. My father John Poage born 1905 in Centerview, Missouri and my Mother born 1911 in Kansas City, Missouri. I do thank all who work so hard to make these available, and am so grateful to you. Sincerely

Also, please correct my name from SharibPakkala -- that had to be a typo as I have always been known by my given names. Please correct this for me also! I am grateful for all the hard workers!! Sincerely so!

    Listed where?

FamilySearch's website is very large. Different parts of it have vastly different natures and purposes, and hence behave very differently.

If you encountered the errors in the shared, open-edit Family Tree, then you should be able to fix them yourself.

If the errors were in an indexed record, then it depends on the specifics whether you can make any corrections.

Hi. The censuses provide an estimated birth year due to the ages given to the census enumerator. The census was taken 18 May 1940. John and Marion had not had their birthday yet which would throw off the birthyear estimate. Nowhere in the actual document are birth years listed, so this minor discrepancy is to be expected. The census also does not ask for a married woman's maiden name so she would only be recorded as Marion Poage.
