What is the rule regarding working on spousal lines, does that include grandmothers, and her parents

    If you are talking about taking names to the temple, you would be better to move your post from General Questions to the Temple category.

    On the other hand, if you are referring to researching and adding names to Family Tree, there are no restrictions with this. The profiles you add can relate to any individual - known relative or otherwise.

    this is a billion record collaborative system that we all share access to -- you can research, view, edit any record in the system whether you are related or not.

    BUT of course most people will focus on people they are either related to or somehow connected to.
