Notification when Notes or Collaboration comments deleted
I left Notes on a suspected sibling of my GGgrandfather and follow the PID. I may have put them under Collaboration. In either case, nothing is showing on his PID and there isn't anything noted in the Change Log. Census records I attached relevant to these comments have also been detached and are now simply available to attach again. This isn't in the Change Log either.
It seems that Notes and Collaboration comments can be deleted and without a notification sent to the author or those following the PID.
Perhaps it is prudent to delete some comments, but please provide notification and a description of this in the Change Log or perhaps a Notes history log.
Perhaps someone judged this research to be incorrect, but it would be useful to know that and the reasoning.
Thank you,

I don't have much experience with notifications, but changes to things on the collaboration tab are in the change log.
Source detachments are likewise always in the change log.
Perhaps there are two very similar profiles, and you've "followed" the wrong one?

The Changelog does track Alert Notes - so if you converted Notes to Alert Notes - though I don't think there is notification (other than the weekly Following notification) - you could see those changes (in Changelog). I really am not sure about Notes though ...

Alert Notes are just an option on Notes. They all behave exactly the same way in the Change Log.

Whew what a relief - good to know ALL Notes deletions will be logged ... Except this 'profile' ...
Melinda - Has the profile been merged?
Does merging transfer the Notes also (sorry not at a place to check some of these myself - just going from memory right now 😁)?
... maybe it would be good to get the URL/PID... Or find out where the 'profile' in question is being viewed.

I just tested in beta: the collaboration tab is fully preserved in a merge, with no option to do otherwise, since other than the alert note(s), the tab is invisible during the process.
If both profiles have an alert note, the surviving profile's note retains the checkmark, while the merge-deleted profile's alert note becomes just a regular note on the collaboration tab.
One thing to note, though, is that when you open a profile's change log, the actions are "collapsed" or "condensed": it only shows the merge, not the individual conclusions or notes that were transferred. You have to open the merge to see the addition of the notes and discussions from the merge-deleted profile.

Thanks Julia - that's good information to know also! 👍
